Teacher. Social Worker. Leader. Mom.

The right person for the job

Standing in front of her classroom of special needs students in post-Katrina New Orleans, Lisa saw the excitement and promise of young, eager kids. She also saw first hand how much families need strong, committed, advocates – in the classroom and in the community.

Her experience as a Teach for America Corps member in New Orleans stayed with Lisa. She set off to learn how to help create more opportunities for families by attending the world-renown Washington University’s Brown School of Social Work. Now, as a social worker, she helps community organizations connect with the resources they need to prosper.

As a newly-minted social worker, Lisa saw right away the potential that government has to be a source of hope and help in our lives. After working with governmental entities for and on behalf of community service organizations, she knew that she could do even more for her community.

So Lisa stepped up and ran for St. Louis County Council, seeking to represent her neighbors in the Fifth District.

On the Council, Lisa uses her unique perspective as a social worker to dig deeper into the problems facing the County, connect constituents with solutions, and encourage much-needed collaboration between the public and private sector. Her vast knowledge of both the public and private sector has been of particular help during the coronavirus epidemic.

Born and raised in St. Louis County, Lisa understands the many challenges facing our community today. She also understands its many strengths.

Lisa and her husband live in Maplewood with their two boys and adorable dog Chauncey.
